About Sarah Hanner Hopwood
I’m a mixed media artist living between Hay-on-Wye and Oxfordshire. Working primarily in watercolour and collage, I create atmospheric imagined landscapes inspired by the Scottish Highlands, the valleys of South Wales, and the quiet emotional pull of the natural world.
My paintings often incorporate fragments of poetry and found text from old books, with stitching and delicate marks layered into the surface. Influenced by romantic nature writing and the changing light, weather and seasons of the British landscape, my work explores stillness, memory, longing and belonging.
Alongside landscapes, I also work with wildlife, florals, textiles and cyanotypes, always returning to nature as both inspiration and refuge. My practice embraces an intuitive, contemporary approach while honouring the quiet beauty of land, sky and the small details that connect us to place.
I have exhibited widely across England and Wales since 2021, including Oxfordshire Artweeks, Country Living Christmas Fairs and numerous independent art fairs and festivals.
